For the long winter evenings, see "Knickers Galore! – The Memoirs of a ‘Psychopath’" a true story about the making of a transvestite, still available on the net.
ARISE, EUGENICS!
Good news for common sense came in as Canada’s Professor Tom Koch, supremo of the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, estimated that, by recent times, no less than 90% of Mongol foetuses were being aborted (Sunday Telegraph, 19 xii). This situation contrasted handsomely with that of 1965, when just about 0% of said foetuses were aborted and parents were allowed to plough on into lifetimes of misery.
(Of course, the good prof. himself did not like this a bit, believing that modern welfare states were providing more and more opportunities for the employment of Mongols and for their providing endless job creation programmes for leftists and hangers-on....)
Further good news: The entire DNA profile of an unborn child was mapped from the blood of its mother for the first time in a breakthrough (at the Chinese University of Hong Kong) that could allow parents to safely check for a host of genetic and inherited disorders.
COALITION AT LAST...
After a year which I had campaigned semi-tirelessly for electoral pacts between Liberals, Libertarians and Nationalists (in line with my Palmerstonian National-Liberal agenda, respecting both society and the individual), a liberal-conservative coalition had in fact survived six months in office and was moving towards at least an informal electoral pact re the Oldham East by-election in January – with Daft Dave telling his troops to stop leafleting and Virtuous Vince announcing on telly that the constituency would be a two-horse race (between Liberals and Labour – so Conservatives should vote Liberal).
Admittedly, CamCo had not produced any IQ-respecting or PC-disrespecting policies; but at least it looked capable of keeping Labour spendthrifts out of office for the rest of my life, so I would not leave still more debts to the young (apart from the High Speed London-Birmingham-E’bro rail link to which CamCo had become committed, perhaps as the only way of maintaining realistic British engineering and organizational skills).
HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE II AT LAST...

Hope that Britain could mend its 140-year rift with Germany emerged as Prince Harry was seen to be enchanted (at charity cavortings in Berlin) by a stunning young German actress, Sophia Thomalla (Sun, 20 xii; Daily Mail, 20 xii).
SANITY AT LAST....
As Britain’s trade unions (led by overweight potato-faced Irishmen with names like Brendan) limbered up to take on the Government over anything they could think of, they found themselves opposed by the Guardian (20 xii), which concluded: “Mr McCluskey's* priority ought to be to reach out to these people [who do not approve of increasing government deficits], showing he understands their lives and looking for innovative ways of addressing their anxieties. Instead, like a true Bourbon, he sadly sounds as if he stopped thinking in 1979. What a waste.”
* “We must join students in a broad strike movement to combat attempts to strangle the welfare state.”
JOY OF DIVERSITY
Sweet multiculti-loving playwright Alan Bennett (author of ‘The History Boys’) admitted (in the left-leaning London Review of Books) that he had been conned by two “Italian-looking” women (i.e. gypsies) into taking off his jacket so they could ‘remove ice cream’ – resulting in them removing an envelope containing £1.5K which he had just withdrawn from his bank, and in his experiencing a sharp reduction in his trust in ‘the kindness of strangers.’
REALITY DAWNS
I recall quipping to the returning 100 students of Psychology II , back in post-New Year 1980, of Britain’s “strangely timed and unduly prolonged festive season.”
Unheedingly, the madness went on, with people (encouraged by bargain-basement airfares) believing they could re-unite their fractured families with journeys at the coldest time of year (or otherwise jet off from lacklustre Thiefrow Airport to sunnier climes).
Probably most of these dupes believed in ‘global warming.’ Anyway, pre-Christmas 2010 the snow closed in – a mere 4 inches being sufficient to close Scotland’s major Glasgae-Ebro highway, London’s Heathrow, and the Ebro-London mainline. Socialism, bureaucracy or capitalism looking after you? Forgeddit!
ACADEMIC FREEDOM PUBLISHED
The long-awaited book by UCL’s Emeritus Prof. of Media Law Eric Barendt, "Academic Freedom and the Law: A Comparative Study", having ‘THE CHRIS BRAND CASE’ as its final chapter, emerged in paperback (Oxford : Hart Publishing [‘Good books for lawyers’], pp. 218; available from Amazon at £35).
From what I last saw in draft* of the chapter concerning me, Prof.Barendt was inclined to conclude, de facto, that there was no ‘academic freedom’ left in Britain unless an academic buttered up his colleagues -- though Barendt did not see it as his business to argue with this state of affairs. The chapter was quite properly concerned with legalistic niceties of how eminently reasonable it was for academics to be got rid of for upsetting their colleagues...;
but it entirely ignored the academic and political issues at stake – the very favourable 1996 reviews of The g Factor in Nature, New Scientist and Personality & Individual Differences were not mentioned, nor was the left’s six-month struggle to suppress me (culminating in police advising closure of a debate just off Princes Street for fear of violence from the ‘Anti-Nazi League’ and in noisy leftists invading and closing a seminar I tried to give in E.LU.Psychology).
Even on the legal issues, the chapter missed what was E.LU.’s key argument: that a university had no more obligation to defend the speech of an academic than did United Biscuits (expressly cited) to continue employment for an operative exposed as being in the BNP; and it missed what was E.LU. key technique: to refuse to call witnesses that I requested (notably jurist Provost Neil McCormick, who would presumably have stood by his Inquiry that had cleared me in the summer of 1996).
It was at least good that Prof. Barendt had provided an appreciative 15-page summary of the legal drama of THE CHRIS BRAND CASE, for the University of Edinburgh itself had actually by 2008 (in its shame) obliterated – as told to inquirers under the Freedom of Information Act -- all records of how it had spent £100K to castigate me (after my 26 years of unblemished, prestige-publishing and high-citation-earning service), ‘inquire’ into me, tribunalize me, get rid of me (with the help of a High Court judge, a neighbour of Principal Dame Stewart Sutherland) and finally compensate me (once it had Texan multi-millionaire Jim Woodhill come at it.}
* The chapter began: “The dismissal of Chris Brand from his Lectureship at Edinburgh University in 1997 was one of the most controversial, and unhappy, episodes in the history of British universities in the post-war period.”
BBC TOPMAN ACCUSED OF RACISM
Hysteria about ‘racism’ reached the top of the BBC as Lord Melvyn Bragg found himself accused of the dread sin by a female professorette, Pat Hudson, called to his weekly 9 a.m. radio programme to discuss the causes of the Industrial Revolution (23 xii). After Lord Melvyn mentioned the well known fact that 18th-century British genius had produced a lot of engineering inventions (steam engine, spinning jenny, flying Arbuckle, canary etc.) found his idea denounced as racist.
So shocked was he that he spent the rest of the programme trying to get his own back (table-thumping and cries of ‘rubbish’ could be heard) – though no one seemed to have told him that the increase in British genius of those days had come from the Protestant religious settlement which allowed religious leaders to marry and typically (in well-endowed circumstances) have the large families of bright children who were the beginning of Britain’s military, agricultural, industrial, philosophical and imperial success.
Another naughty elite ‘racist’ was the wife of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who routinely referred to Afro-Americans as ‘darkies’ – though in other ways pursuing a progressive lifestyle of (mainly) lesbian affairs (Christian Science Monitor, 16 xii).
SEX REALISM
In an apparent case of female-on-female jealousy, the 33-yr-old nanny of Britain’s sixteenth-richest woman, 50, the CEO of ‘Ann Summers,’ was arrested by police and charged with poisoning her boss’s food with screenwash (Sun, 24 xii).
DEATH WISH REALISM
Britain’s psychobabblers and media were baffled as jailed Bradford ‘crossbow cannibal’ (killer and eater of perhaps 14) Stephen Griffiths (see May 27) showed strong determination to die in prison by ingesting radio batteries (thoughtlessly provided by authorities in his ‘special-watch’ cell) and refusing normal food and liquid (Sun, 24 xii).
Griffiths’ mother had almost certainly been a prostitute and he had grown up with a lively hatred of himself and everyone else; yet medics had deemed there was nothing wrong enough with him to merit his detention.
{Freud’s concept of the death wish had been ignored by peecee-liberal intellectuals; neglect of IQ followed; and acceptance of most sexual perversions as normal – not paedophilia, of course, to preserve a semblance of decency! -- was following hard behind as the American homosexual lobby had President Obarmy establish the ‘right’ of US military personnel to be openly yag and lezzie.}
WELFARE REALISM
Sun, 24 xii: GERMANY is letting the long-term jobless show they really want to work by recruiting them to clear the snow from roads and airports. Our politicians should follow suit - and bring in thousands serving community sentences too. Millions of hard-working families would find the idea right up their frozen Strasse.
