ROUTE TO NATIONAL LIBERALISM OPENS UP

As Rev. Blair became increasingly involved in complementing his draconian provision of Political Correctness with demands for ‘Respect’ (for others, apparently) (involving petty and incoherent legal restrictions on gambling, smoking and drinking in trains and ‘name and shame’ routines to advertise state schools having high weenager pregnancy rates), it became increasingly clear that the way forward for the Conservatives was to stress their commitment to freedom, and in particular to choice, and especially to announce a commitment to help young people avoid early criminal records (or later blackmail threats) by decriminalizing drugs, lowering the age of sexual consent and insisting that all state schools allow all pupils a choice of school class for at least 50% of the day. Coupled with a commitment to support two-parent families, births to undergraduettes, a statute of limitations forbidding prosecution more than two years after an offence and kicking out unintegrated asylum seekers of low IQ, national liberalism would have [re-]arrived – with a realistic formula for a free Britain. {But, as it was, the preference of wonderboy Conservative leadership contender David Cameron remained that he only wanted to discuss policy behind closed doors with his 'Notting Hill' fan club.}



FRENCH ANTI-RACIST PHILOSOPHY EXPOSED

In a hilarious send-up of the generation-long ambitions alike of France’s revolutionaries, republicans and reactionaries to ignore genetic and IQ problems and pretend to ‘integrate’ 5.5 million Muslims into French society, North-African youths from un-policed ghettos in some ten Paris suburbs rioted in neighbouring White areas nightly for a week, e.g. resulting in hundreds of burned-out cars (250 in one night alone), buses and trains being stopped and stoned, the setting ablaze of a primary school, a car dealership and a shopping centre, the fire-bombing of a police station, cancellation of holidays for top ministers of France’s centrist government, and talk of the need for a curfew in the French capital. {So much for France’s attempt to placate Muslims by not helping to depose Iraq’s dictator Madman Insane!}

{By an eighth night, the disturbances had spread to some twenty Paris-region towns and 143 arrests had been made. To that date, 28,000 cars had been torched in urban France in 2005, said Le Monde. Among 20- to 24-year-olds living in French suburbs whose residents are predominantly Muslim, the jobless rate during the 1999 census was 37.2 percent for men, compared with the national average of 22.5 percent – Bloomberg, 3 xi.

The descendants of North African parents in France came to call themselves Beurs (Beur means Arab) around 1980, stressing their ‘cultural bi-identity,’ and there were self-announced Beur novelists; but today Beur has become a term of abuse.} {The troubles had started when, most unusually, a White woman living on the fringe of an Afro-Arab ghetto took the trouble to report the vandalization of a car. As police arrived, two Beur boys sought refuge in an electricity substation where they promptly died from electrocution, sparking anger among the wretched Muslims of the earth.}

{As disturbances spread to Dijon [5 cars burned], Marseilles [11 cars burned], Trappes [to the west of Paris – 27 buses destroyed] and Normandy, Lille and Toulouse the ludicrous and divided but unfailingly peecee-mouthing French ‘government’ pronounced the rioting to be ‘organized’, as if to excuse its own lack of organization of immigration policy re mad Muslims of mean IQ 90. On the eighth night of rioting, 519 cars were torched. France's anti-immigrant National Front leader, Jean-Marie Le Pen, 77, said "France is under attack from hordes of foreigners"; but by and large the right kept quiet, waiting for France to see for itself the failure of its political elite’s policies of the past generation.

Interior Minister Nicholas Sarkozy, who had been thought to favour affirmative racism ooops action, had called the Beurs “scum” and said they should be “water-hosed,” thus allowing leftists and pinkoes and President Chirac to blame him personally for most of the rioting…. By contrast, his opponent for the 2007 Presidential Election, the lofty Dominique de Villepin, favoured total ‘colour-blindness.’ – Both gents would soon find that their lack of attention to genetic differences and the sheer intractable unintegratability of many Bleck youf would cost them and their country dear.

On the evening of 4th November, 900 cars were burned across France and 250 arrests were made. Le Figaro ran a strong editorial that blamed decades of “uncontrolled immigration” for the unrest. To use the army was problematic since France had let it become 23% Muslim. Just why France continued paying out welfare benefits in Beur areas remained unclear. Police trade union officials spoke freely of “civil war” spreading to all Muslim ghettos. In a tenth night of rioting, as batty French politicians and the media called for more sensitivity, welfarism and giving mad Muslims the vote, 1,300 cars were burned out and 350 arrests were made. Just when the French authorities would start killing Muslim loons was not explained – no more than the American and British troops in Iraq explained their own apparent inactivity.

“The government has set up plenty of agencies to help these youngsters find a job, but they don't want to work,'' said Claudine Carrer, a 66-year-old retired secretary from Aulnay-sous-Bois, where rioters had burnt a Renault showroom and a car rental business. ``They want to live off unemployment benefits. The government should send in the army, the foreign legion, dig up all the drugs and the weapons these people hide.''

However, as curfews were discussed and 1,500 gendarme reservists called up, it seemed more likely that French politicos would do a deal with French mullahs to restore the classic mediaeval ‘millet’ system whereby Muslims would control their own areas in return for restraining their forces from pestering surrounding areas, at least for the time being. Eventually, on November 8th, the ludicrous ‘interior minister’ said he was ‘allowing’ local mayors to declare curfews and states of emergency in their areas – but he would not admit that France (afflicted by then nightly by rioting in some 300 locations) had a problem as a whole, traceable to its years of Catholicism, revolutionism, anti-Semitism, anti-Germanism, anti-Americanism, communism, existentialism, postmodernism and lack of race realism.}

H.M.G. OPPOSED re FREE SPEECH RESTRICTIONS

Britain's NuLabour Government's plan to criminalize `incitement to religious hatred' was soundly condemned in the lead editorial in the Sunday Times (16 x) - the paper siding with top comic Rowan Atkinson (The Queen's College, Oxford) and saying the proposed Terror Bill "must be stopped" by the House of Lords. {What a pity the paper had not been as firm over the past forty years in opposing anti-race-hate legislation!}



IQ ZOOMS TO SCORE

It turned out that South Korea's top young soccer player, Park Chu-yung had an IQ of 150 which had led his parents and teachers to try divert him into teaching - but he stuck to his guns, as to Christianity (Seoul Times, 18 x). {Soccer players are notorious for their mediocre IQs, but that doesn't mean that IQ conveys no advantages at all at the world's slowest and most mixed-footed sport.}



RACE REALISM CATCHES ON

The term `race realism' - coined in the kitchen of 71 South Clerk Street, Edinburgh, in 1996, showed increasing signs of catching on as it was used in the neocon American magazine Slate (17 x) against loyalists of the London School - said to be throwbacks to Victorian Galtonianism, of which they would all in fact have been very proud.



IMMIGRATION REALISM

New Zealand's incoming Labour Government appointed as its Foreign Secretary a man called Winston Peters, a nationalist who was determined to cut down on immigration, especially by Muslims, in return for wheeling his troops behind Labour on other issues. How could he dare to be so non-peecee? Ans.: He was a Maori, so thus had saint status to say just what he liked.

How far are you from the dreaded paedophilia? No as far as you think! It's not just that H.M. Queen fell in love with the 8-year-older Prince Philip when she was a minor. In October, it turned out that national singer-sensation busty Charlotte Church had a window-cleaner uncle, 37, placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for hanky-panky with girls of 9-to-12 (Sun, 22 x).



PAEDOHYSTERIA AVOIDED

Top British artiste, the ugly-faced but well-figured multi-millionaire, Tracey Emin, 35, claimed she had been much `abused' by an auntie when she was a child - and that her own father had also been `abused.' None of this had stopped her going on to become Britain's best-known female drunk, exhibitionist and exponent of French post-modernism.



BLECK LOON CHASTENED

My 1997 rival in debate at Cambridge University, balded and frequently liquored Old Testament prophet Darkest Howe, came up against spunky NY-Jewish comedienne Joan Rivers, 70 (but looking 35). After Darcus had droned on about his desertion of his four wives and seven children being only in accordance with the `narrative' of Blecks experiencing White racism, Joan told him she was "so bored of race" and fed up with hearing such goonish bleck excuses for failure to take personal responsibility. Darkest promptly accused Joan of failing to acknowledge the bleck experience of White racism, but NY Joan immediately went ape at this apparent accusation of `racism' and demanded from the "sonofabitch" ex-Panther -- and eventually obtained -- an apology. Darcus slunk off from the BBC studio with his tail between his legs.



BRAIN SIZE LINK TO GENES COVERED

New work from Chicago University linking genes governing brain size to human evolutionary stages and to race (Blecks vs the rest -- see Diary, September) was publicized in a fine article for National Review by the splendid John Derbyshire and for American Renaissance (print edition) by myself.



SCHOOLS: FREE TO CHOOSE TO IGNORE IQ - BLAIR, I

As the latest part of Prime Minister Blair's "pivotal" New Labour educational reforms, a White Paper faced down Old Labour opposition and said state schools would in future be free to select their pupils as they wished - so long as they did not select by IQ or expel any children for laziness or naughtiness.. {A fine article by top columnist Alice Thompson detailed how the destruction of most of Britain's grammar schools by Labour (abetted by feeble Tories who allowed the Left the education system as its playground while Mrs Thatcher put the economy right) had resulted in many of today's top jobs being occupied by the products of private schools (Daily Telegraph, 25 x)}.

Even the Labour Cabinet drew about a third of its members from the private education sector though most leading Labourites conveniently forgot to mention their schooling in Who's Who.. As Alice Thompson said: "..when Labour scrapped the grammar schools, it turned the country back into a class-ridden society, where the children of the rich had a huge advantage. The comprehensives, if they had been properly streamed, might have worked; but instead they went for the lowest common denominator. No-one was allowed to be challenged; no-one could fail. Exam results were fudged and school discipline fell apart." (The delightful Alice Thomson is associate editor, columnist, and interviewer for the Daily Telegraph. Born in 1967, she is also restaurant critic for The Spectator. She was named Alice after her great-great-grandmother Alice Todd, for whom Alice Springs, Australia, is also named). -- So where was she when The g Factor was being de-published?...}



SCHOOLS: FREE TO CHOOSE TO IGNORE IQ - BLAIR, II

During the publication and discussion of H.M.G.'s White Paper, it transpired that the newly `independent' state schools would indeed be unable to use selection by ability; and, worse, that they would be obliged to have their intake from across all ability levels (dumbos would be bused in free from poor-postcode areas to the better schools) and be obliged to provide special `tutoring' for any children who failed to keep up. However, there was one concession to The g Factor": Within the school, grouping of pupils by ability band would be "encouraged" - though schools would be at liberty to reject such encouragement (as many of their socialistic staff of the 21st century would doubtless demand). In response to this 90%-horror story, the Educational Correspondent of the Daily Telegraph (26 x), John Clare, advised parents living in nice areas near nice schools to fake low on H.M.G.'s `banding' test so as to win a coveted place by apparent mediocrity. So much for neosocialist provision of `freedom'!



EDINBURGH LUNIVERSITY BANS BIBLES

Determined to maintain its ten-year-long position as the leading university opposing free speech and backing peecee multiculturalism, Edinburgh University bowed to its students (as it had done in 1996 when silencing my occasional emission of home truths about race, IQ, feminism and paedophilia) and said it would clear all donated copies of the Holy Bible from its halls of residence so as to ensure "that all students from all faiths feel at home in their university accommodation." {Instead, the famous Gideon Bibles - left historically in hotel and guest-house bedrooms all over the country - would presumably be replaced with a list of phone numbers and websites for the Samaritans, the Funky Buddha Club and al'Qaeda..}



DANES GET TOUGH WITH MAD MUSLIMS

After years of multicultural piety, immigration, and increasing Muslim criminality, the Danish police charged six Muslims with the murder of a girl of whose boyfriend the Muslimofascists had disapproved; and the Danish Prime Minister refused to meet moaning Muslims who did not like press criticism of them, telling them he had neither any power to control Denmark's free press nor any wish to control it.


BUSH BLASTED BY CONSERVATIVES

The hopeless American President Rev George Dubya `God told me to do it' Bush, having utterly failed to control PeeCee or immigration, had his Supreme Court nominee, his own personal lawyer Harriet Miers, rejected by Republicans after it was revealed she had voted, when president of the Texas bar, for racial quotas and sex set-asides (Washington Post, 22 x).

Race Realism Takes a Step Forward

The nightmare moment that the West’s self-styled anti-racists and egalitarians have dreaded has now arrived. Last month, Chicago University geneticists published data in the prestige journal Science in which variations in two genes, on chromosomes 1 and 8, previously linked to brain size, were shown to vary across continents in a way indicating rapid and recent selection, possibly underpinning the evolution of language and reasoning. In particular, these genetic variations (in alleles) -- arguably responsible for greater cognitive ability (the modern peecee euphemism for intelligence) -- were found relatively commonly in Europe and Asia but at markedly lower frequencies in sub-Saharan Africa. Previously, the same researchers had shown these variations to be much more common in man than in other mammals -- though chimpanzees (man’s closest primate relatives) showed some signs of evolution in the human direction. The findings came hard on the heels of work in Brisbane by Professor Nick Martin and his group finding that sizeable IQ differences within families are associated with variations in the DNA on chromosomes 2 and 6; and at the same time as New York Magazine is giving eight pages to the theory that the Ashkenazi Jews of Europe are prone to disastrous sphingolipid genetic diseases because, when having only one gene for them rather than two, brain development is enhanced and a substantial IQ advantage conferred.

Details of the excellent new Chicago work were conveniently reported in the New York Times (Nick Wade, 8 September), Bloomberg (9 September) and scores of other publications. Essentially, a young East Asian scientist, Dr Bruce Lahn, and his team had studied the prevalence of variants of two genes known to be disabled or damaged in human cases of severe microcephaly (in which the brain develops to only 30% of its normal size). The researchers examined the DNA of 1,184 people around the world – though not in the racially mixed areas of North America, Russia and Australia. They estimated that one genetic variation (‘microcephalin haplogroup D’ – O.K., let’s call it V1) had spread since its appearance in humans of 40,000BC to some 70% of humans; and it was more common in Europe, Asia, South America and Latin America than in Black Africa. It was especially infrequent (3%) in Congo pygmies, whom Black Africans commonly regard as markedly intellectually inferior to themselves. A second variant (‘abnormal, spindle-like microcephaly-associated haplogroup D’ – V2) arriving more recently, around 6,000BC, had spread to 30% of humans, and was more common in Europe and the Middle East, somewhat less common in Asia, and distinctly rare in Black Africa. Lahn and colleagues noted that the evolutionary arrival of V1 coincided roughly with the first signs of human habitation and agriculture; by contrast, the later-arriving V2 appeared along with the first signs of human development of cities and written language.

Faced with this awesome challenge to modern sensitivities about race and genes – especially when simultaneously linked to brain size and civilization! – the Chicago scientists, eagerly abetted by journalists at their press conference, went into pseudo-apologetic overdrive. Fully matching the media efforts to spin the horrors of 70% Black and 80% Black-run New Orleans as attributable to Whitey and President George ‘Dubya’ Bush in particular, they tried to douse the results in cold water so they could cause no conflagration. Such ‘responsibility’ is a requisite of further research grants under the PeeCee religiosity of the ‘post-modern’ West.

Of course, more research is needed – another sentiment unfailingly endorsed in all circumstances by every grant-seeking scientist. Yet what was the authors’ plan, and why exactly could such research not be done in the handy USA? Was it possible that no research that expressly sought to link race and brain size could ever attract funding in North America?

Of course, the authors insisted there was “not necessarily” a connection between the Vs and brain size. Sure! Science is not about ‘necessary’ truth, i.e. logical truth, but about truth that is synthetic, empirical and probabilistic. But the finding that sub-Saharan Africa was the most distinct racial group (of all those studied) was entirely in line with Black Africans also having the most distinct profiles of small-brainedness and low-IQ. What else might those Vs be doing? Making Eurasians worse at running and jumping?! Well, no one has yet linked African athleticism to small-brainedness. It is more likely that the Chicago result is simply right up the street of Professor Phil Rushton (University of Western Ontario) and the rest of the London School of psychology (current leader Emeritus Professor Arthur Jensen) – but Rushton’s name and work establishing a correlation perhaps as high as .40 between brain size, IQ and cultural level could not be mentioned by the Chicago researchers for fear of frightening the horses. Rather, the Chicago researchers colluded with the media to play down the full significance of their work – perhaps, some say, because they do indeed have data in the pipeline linking their Vs directly to IQ and they want a press conference for that paper that will be better attended than those recently in Washington when Rushton and the U.K.’s Emeritus Professor Richard Lynn announced their latest breakthroughs attesting the hereditarian position of the London School of psychology to pitifully small audiences of newsies.

Of course, the authors write only of ‘geographical’ and not of racial differences. But no-one need be fooled by this terminological piety when the data especially distinguish sub-Saharan Africans from all other racial groups – just as Blacks are a group unto themselves in the main findings of psychology, economics, criminology and venereology.

Of course, the Vs could have had some other evolutionary function than making for domestication, art, civilization and language. But, again, Rushton’s work adds plausibility to the authors’ main speculation.

Of course, some critics (like Duke University’s David Goldstein) were quick to claim that Lahn et al.’s genetic differences might have no function and might just have resulted from accidental genetic drift. In particular it has long been common for doubters of the link between brain size and intelligence to point out that Neanderthals actually had cranial capacities some 12% larger than those of modern man. However, Lahn et al. have estimated that the evolutionary changes in their V frequencies occurred far too quickly to be due to drift; and modern paleoanthropologists reject former stories of Neanderthals’ dim-wittedness – they were after all the first hominids to manage to live in subarctic conditions and they had laryngeal anatomy compatible with speech.

Of course, the press conference for the Chicago group agreed that the V work did not mean Black Africans had a low IQ or any other disadvantage…. Dr Lahn himself volunteered that Africans’ could well turn out to have still other Vs that might be shown one day to give them their own positive advantages. It just so happened that the Eurasian genetic advantage had come to light first…. Fine, but such thinking is unfalsifiable unless we are told how long we are supposed to wait before concluding there is no such general African advantage; and also what work the Chicago team proposes in the meantime. Anyhow, microcephalin (controlled by V1) has been declared “a major player in regulating human brain development” by experts in molecular genetics at the Chinese Academy of Science.

No, the West’s media and the scientists themselves can hedge and fudge as much as they like. But their favoured ‘post-modern’ gloss that ‘there is no such thing as race’ just came to look one whole lot sillier. Nor will fudging spare the prancing post-modern arts-persons who deny the reality of civilization, IQ and genetics – or spare the reputations of such scientific eminences as that of the late Stephen Jay Gould. As race and civilization turn out to have a clear genetic basis as well as having clear links to both brain size and IQ, the peecee religiosity of the New York Times looks as doomed as that of the piety of the early-16th-century Roman Church faced with mounting empirical evidence from Galileo and the telescope. Why, the hyper-miseducated NYTwits of New York may even one day publish a review of Richard Lynn’s IQ and the Wealth of Nations – in which, once again, Black Africa has such a unique position, furnishing virtually all of the countries of the world whose economies have actually got worse in the past generation (during which they had been independent)! The West’s anti-racists, having moved heaven and earth to suppress all reference to the g (general intelligence) factor and related material from the London School, now face the final arrival of high-powered tanks on their 1945-style Normandy beaches. The new tank commanders may be a rather more diplomatic and research-grant-savvy lot than is normally expected in nature vs nurture debates; but the fact that Dr Lahn was blooded politically as a student rebel in his home city of Peking during the time of Tianenmen Square should give confidence that his dislike of Communism’s tyrannical and useless environmentalism suggests he holds principles that will soon see him linked to his natural allies in the London School.

FOREIGN CRIMINALS TO BE BOOTED OUT OF HOLLAND

The 'Iron Lady' of Dutch politics brought to Cabinet a measure which would allow expulsion of foreigners in Holland who clocked up substantial criminal records. In the previous month, the Dutch Government had adopted language and 'Dutchness' testing for all newly arriving immigrants, welfare recipients, foreign clerics and immigrants raising children (Daily Telegraph, 1 x 2005).


AMERICA AHEAD IN FAST TRACKING

Describing his satisfaction with American university education, a correspondent to the Daily Telegraph (3 x) said Columbia University had allowed him to take 'advanced' courses basically intended for relatively senior students. {Needless to say, British universities make few such concessions to individual differences in ability and achievement - though Edinburgh University does have a startling elitist scheme which allows medical students (on average the best in the university) to top off their training by earning Honours in Psychology with just nine months of study (whereas other students have to take four years).}

PAEDOHYSTERIA AVOIDED

Following the death of a top British broadcaster, the widely loved John Peel, his widow revealed that, at his high-fee-paying school in Shrewsbury at age 13, he had been routinely expected to masturbate senior boys of 18 or so and was on one occasion raped by one of them (Sunday Telegraph, 9 x 2005). Schoolmasters, too, routinely sought out pupils for sex. Despite such experiences, and despite much unhappiness in his birth family, John went on to a kind if quirky personality, fame, riches, a loving wife and three dearly loved children - and all without a word of complaint about paedophilia.

TRIUMPH OF The g Factor

A comprehensive school in Bridgemary, Gosport, Hampshire has gone ahead with its plan (announced in April – see Diary, above) to begin streaming by cognitive abilities and aptitudes instead of by chronological age (Scotsman, 27 ix) – thus becoming the first state secondary school in Britain to adopt the main educational proposal of The g Factor (1996, Chapter 4). The Times (4 ix) recorded:

Initially, the age gap between the youngest and the oldest pupils in the class is only up to two years, but it will widen as the new teaching system evolves. Cheryl Heron, the head teacher, said: “We certainly don’t want to deter people and the aim is always to be moving the children up through the classes rather than down.” The scheme represents a rejection of the original goal of comprehensive schools to break down social barriers by placing children from a wide range of abilities and backgrounds in the same class. Many education experts now agree that streaming according to ability is more effective because it is easier to motivate the children.

‘Progressive’ education guru Prof. Ted Wragg of Exeter University – despite signs of sweeter reason earlier in 2005 (see Diary, above) -- was apparently still holding out for egalitarianism and mixed ability teaching, saying (though without mentioning any evidence) that streaming by ability could be “humiliating”; but staff and pupils had told the BBC of their enthusiasm for the new arrangements (11 v 05), and headmistress Cheryl Heron had said of an earlier pilot project (Daily Telegraph, 10 iv 05): "We found there were no problems with having older and younger children together. In fact, we were surprised about how well they bonded and learnt together." Government Minister Ruth Kelly had backed streaming in July – see Diary, above. In August, a Glasgow school announced academic boosts for children of all ability levels in a 4-year programme of streaming.


BLAIR INVESTIGATED FOR ‘RACISM’

Police in Wales admitted they were following up a complaint that, in 1999, while watching election results from Wales that were going badly for the Labour Party, Prime Minister Blair had uttered epithets such as “Fucking Welsh!” and “Welsh bastards!” and thus infringed Britain’s notoriously loopy, vague and oppressive ‘race hate’ legislation (ic NorthWales, 28 ix). The accusation had been made in the draft memoirs of a Downing Street aide, Lance Price, who had subsequently fallen out with Mr Blair. A complaint about the alleged remarks had also been lodged with Parliament’s Standards Commissioner by ‘Plaid Cymru’ (the Welsh Nationalist Party).

The complaints against Britain’s massive winner of three consecutive general elections received international attention (and presumably ridicule), being reported e.g. in Adelaide’s Advertiser, South Africa’s News24, Italy’s Scoopt.org and Moscow’s Pravda. {This is just the kind of episode that could bring a final end to PeeCee as everyone collapses laughing.}

{In 2001, North Wales police spent £4,000 considering whether to prosecute broadcaster Ann Robinson for racism after she had joked ‘What are the Welsh for?’ and said the Welsh were always so self-satisfied, boring and irritating – the police spent 96 hours of their time before abandoning the probe.}

{Labour lost a number of high profile Welsh Valleys seats to Plaid Cymru in the 1999 Assembly election including Islwyn, Llanelli and the Rhondda. Core supporters had deserted the Welsh Labour Party for its sidelining of the popular Rhodri Morgan and appointment of the Blairite Mr Michael as candidate for Welsh First Secretary. In August 2005, a Labour Councillor was fined £750 and convicted of a racially aggravated breach of the peace for calling a Welsh constituent 'boyo'. – News Wales, 28 ix.} {At the same time, the Cheshire Racial Equality Council was hounding Tory MP Ann Winterton for saying, after the Islamofascist attack on London of 7/7, that the event showed ‘the price for the so-called benefits of multicultural society that we keep on hearing about’ and that she ‘thanked God for predominantly White, Christian society.’}


E. LUNI STUDENTS WERE ASSAULTED FOR RACE REALISM

Meeting a former student (and supporter) (her lissome figure and bright blue eyes excellently maintained despite 3 children by her lawyer husband since the heady days of 1996/7), I learned that students like herself who had crossed Socialist Workers’ picket lines to attend my lectures had had sticks and stones thrown at them by the shrieking idealists – a touch that had escaped the attentions of Edinburgh’s largely left-leaning paparazzi.


NEOCON vs FRASER

Macquarie LUni’s Drew Fraser was disparaged by neocon Keith Windschuttle (a distinguished critic of postmodernism, ex-University of New South Wales – see my article in American Renaissance, iii 05) for being a ‘left-wing racist’ (and why not? – hardly surprising, given Fraser’s Marxist background) (Windschuttle too was a man of the left for longer than was reasonable given that it took Orwell and Koestler a decade to get their heads around socialist nonsense) while admitting that “Fraser’s brand of racism should be recognised as one of the logical conclusions embedded within multiculturalism” and not even mentioning the problems of seriously low IQs among Australia’s immigrants from Africa (The Australian, 29 ix).


NULABOUR BUSTED

Previously known chiefly for spin-doctoring, mendacity and failure to deliver (notoriously on Blair’s 1996/7 streaming promise of “Education, Education, Education”), Britain’s NuLabour Party took a key step further into infamy as Party heavies (incl. one 17-stone Black gorilla, a notoriously short-fused Brighton nightclub bouncer called Joe Ifill) ejected from the annual Party Conference in Brighton a frail white-haired 82-year-old life-long Jewish supporter, Walter Wolfgang, who had had the temerity to say the single word “Nonsense!” as Gruppenfuehrer Foreign Minister and Blair toadie Jack Straw explained from the conference platform that British troops were suffering being set on fire and imprisoned by the ‘authorities’ in Iraq so as to encourage ‘democracy.’

This remarkable event was caught on TV cameras and followed up by numerous revelations of how Blairite bullies routinely banned traditional leftist sports – even confiscating conferencers’ apples and bags of sweets lest they be thrown at NuLabour’s platform dignitaries. The amazing episode elicited strings of aplogies from NuLabour dignitaries – but probably all in vain – and Walter received a standing ovation from the Conference when he finally re-appeared (having first been banned by police as a ‘terrorist’ because his conference card had been smartly cancelled).

{Of course, the left’s position about the Middle East had always been rather pathetic. Iraq was always an area waiting to fragment unless firm leadership were given (whether by the Brits in the 1920s or Madman Insane later). As spelled out in the McDougall NewsLetters around 1998, the West really needed to take Saudi Arabia – a place where the oil is conveniently located well away from the major centres of religious enthusiasm (Mecca, Medina) – not Iraq. But, instead of listening to McDNL, the West intervened in Iraq so feebly as to allow the country simply to break up into its natural different races/ethnicities. One has to wonder after Vietnam, ex-Yugoslavia and now Iraq whether American pretensions to ‘democracy’ are little but a sorry distraction from the more basic English concepts of property ownership and passable freedom of discussion (eroded though both principles have been by modern UK socialist governments and their tireless taxes on property and restrictions on ‘hate’ speech – i.e. any speech that lefties select for punishment).}

{Pete Willsman, a member of Labour's ruling National Executive Committee, said that he had asked for an official investigation to find out if the stewards who ejected Mr Wolfgang were members of the Labour Party or party staff. He had been unable to establish whether they were volunteers or professional security staff from an outside company, he said. Blair and his gang claimed the heavies were “volunteers” – unable to stop lying even when the spotlight was well and truly on them.}

The decision not to publish was taken following legal advice from counsel that publication would contravene the Commonwealth Racial Discrimination Act 1975 and also, possibly, state and territory legislation dealing with racial and religious vilification. As I am sure you will understand, in these circumstances, publication was not possible.

Thank you for your email. I have read the 1975 Act and note that it actually expressly exempts racial criticism of an academic nature. Please can you tell me which law firm advised you to depublish and what was the precise wording of their opinion and how much Deakin paid for the advice? As things stand, it looks as if Deakin has been exceptionally cowardly in not even attempting to see whether academic free speech is still possible in today's Australia -- the worst that could have happened to it was some small fine which could doubtless have been shared among other Australian universities.

David Duke's still franker account of the Black "savagery" in New Orleans was published here

{It transpired that the failure to empty the city of potential victims/looters and to provide prompt relief after the hurricane belonged not, as the left wished, to President Bush, but to Louisiana's officials -- most of them Black. But that did not impede a Black commentator on the BBC's flagship 'Today' programme (Radio 4, 6 ix) who piled into top Independent columnist Bruce Anderson who had had the temerity to suggest it was time for Blacks to drop their "self-pity" about slavery, take personal responsibility and catch up with the rest of America. -- In fact, Blacks show no signs of "self-pity", rather the opposite, at least in their menfolk; but it was brave of Anderson to attribute their grave social problems to anything other than lack of sufficient provision for them by Whitey.}

The Guardian's (Black, 'anti-racist') reporter Gary Younge claimed he could find in New Orleans no confirmation of stories of rape. But such stories, told by returning Brits and Ozzies, were accepted by the (left-wing) Daily Mirror and the (centrist) Australian; and googling for 'rape Superdome' yielded no less than 154,000 webpages (7 ix).

According to Reuters, a National Guard soldier reported finding (along with colleagues) a girl who had been raped and killed in a bathroom (3 ix, also 7 ix). The Jamaica Observer recorded that one chief police spokesman had actually killed himself after the stress of having to report so many rapes in New Orleans -- as well as murders and hostage-takings (7 ix). Troops reported finding 40 mutilated bodies in New Orleans' Convention Centre refugee centre (AmRen, 9 ix



SEX REALISM REACHES SOUTHERN INDIA

The Lynn & Irwing finding of adult male over-representation at higher-IQ levels reached the online newspaper NewKerala.com (5 ix) and India Times (Health) (8 ix) and attracted only statutory derision from the BBC's correspondents (6 ix) -- but remained suppressed by the emasculated peecee liars who ran America's media and
academia.



WOULD VOLTAIRE HAVE BACKED FREE SPEECH FOR RACE REALISTS?

In an effort to have a go at race realist Professor Drew Fraser's supporters in Australia, one Helen Pringle, a senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales trotted out the old canard that Voltaire never actually said he would "defend to the death" the right to free speech of an opponent. Alas, Helen Pringle had not done her homework. Here is what Voltaire wrote in 1770 to M. le Riche: "Monsieur l'Abb‚, I detest what you write, but I would give my life to make it possible for you to continue to write" (quoted in McDougall NewsLetter, 1999). Ms Pringle went on to doubt Voltaire's willingness to stand up for others, but this seemed hard when Voltaire had actually gone to prison at the beginning of his career for supporting the seditious views of the beautiful and ambitious Duchesse de Maine in (1716).


SCIENTISTS BLAST ANTI-RACIST MYTHS

The moment that the West's self-styled anti-racists had dreaded arrived. In September, Chicago University geneticists, led by Peking-educated Bruce Lahn, published data in the prestige journal Science in which two sets of genetic variations were linked at once to brain size (especially cortical size), race and human cultural spurts in evolution. In particular, these variations -- arguably responsible for greater cognitive ability (the modern peecee euphemism for intelligence) -- were found more commonly in Europe and Asia but at substantially lower frequencies in sub-Saharan Africa. Previously, the researchers (led by a young Chinese man who had "fiercely" opposed communism around the time of Tianenmen Square) had shown these genetic variations to be much more pronounced in man than in other mammals -- though chimpanzees (man's closest primate relative) showed some slight sign of evolution in the human direction. RACE REALIST OZ LAWYER TO PUBLISH

A 6,800-word paper by Sydney academic Andrew Fraser (see above) titled `Rethinking the White Australia Policy' was accepted by Deakin Law Review - the high-flying double-blind-reviewing journal of Melbourne-based 32,000-strong Deakin University's law school (The Australian, 14 ix). Two referees had given their acceptance, though another two had refused to go on after realizing the provenance of the paper. Publication was expected by the end of September. The acceptance was a slap in the face for Macquarie University Vice Chancelloress `Lady Di' Yerbury who had deemed topics of race, IQ and criminality to be outwith Professor Fraser's professional competence.

{Battle was promptly joined against Deakin University by Australia's Sudanese Darfurian community - which had already commenced action against Drew Fraser himself, but now had its lawyer, George Newhouse, say it would be coming after Deakin's coffers if publication proceeded (The Australian, 14 ix). But a spokesperson for Deakin said the university had no plan to abandon publication. Fraser acquired a supporter worried that Newhouse might `chill' discussions of race by academics (Crikey! 15 ix) - apparently unaware that such `chilling' had been accomplished 9« years ago as academics failed to support The g Factor and watched with bovine indifference as I was thrown to the lions in Edinburgh.}

At American Renaissance, a correspondent recorded (15 ix):

You know, I was over there for a month, toured half the continent and Tassie, and they're having a hell of a time sorting things out with the Aboriginals. I don't know why the fools that are running the government would want to dump a bunch of Africans on top of that.

The Aussies are great people. The only losers I met were the Arab cab drivers that freely expressed their disgust with Australia and Australians......and the occasional Asian that considered Aussies stupid and lazy. As a matter of fact, a Lebanese man and woman chased an Aussie girl into the lobby of the hotel I was staying in and stabbed her. Probably over drugs, as they and the Asians have started a burgeoning narcotics trade in order to show their appreciation to Oz for allowing them to leave the dumps they were born in.

Oz is a great place, but if Aussies aren't vigilant and limit non white migration soon, they will lose it. I hope they act because, unlike here, their situation is still readily reversible.

A footnote; On a Sydney bus I sat with a very classy blonde lady who had moved to Oz from South Africa because they had to liquidate their holdings and leave before the blacks confiscated everything.

SEX DIFFERENCE IN IQ RANGE RE-ASSERTED

Differential psychologist Richard Lynn (ex-U. Ulster) and organizational psychologist Paul Irwing (ex-U. Ulster, then Manchester Business School) managed to score big-time in the media by reporting, (apparently from a worldwide literature review of cognitive tests in 57 studies [sampling unknown] involving 80,000 testees and perhaps new material involving some 20,000 students since 1960), that adult males were substantially over-represented at higher levels of IQ (some five-fold at over IQ 145) (Times, 25 viii; Sun, 25 viii; Herald, 25 viii; Daily Mail, 25 viii, p.29; BBC 25 viii [where Lynn & Irwing promptly attracted a score of responses, all critical]; Glasgow Evening Times, 25 viii; The Australian [26 viii -- taking the trouble to mention Lynn's involvement in the (2002) discovery of a clear correlation between national prosperity and national IQ]).

The finding, to be published in the British Journal of Psychology (the flagship journal of the British Psychological Society), due out 4 xi, was in line with Charles Murray's (2004) estimate that only 2% of the world's top 4,000 'achievers' (till 1950) had been women.

{Males also scored on average 5 IQ points higher than women but this may have reflected well-known higher male spatial abilities -- since spatial tests are often used (instead of verbal or numerical tests) to achieve 'culture-fair' assessment of intelligence.}

{Good news for women was that, matching for IQ, women actually achieved more than men -- perhaps because of conscientiousness or better memory due to lower alcohol intake.}

{The Education Guardian (25 viii} did its best to hold the line for sex equality by having Cambridge University professor Simon Boring-Cohen reject Professor Lynn's attempt to rope him in as to a 5-IQ-point average male superiority , saying he still believed "overall intelligence is not better in one sex than in the other" -- Boring-Cohen had become well-known for acknowledging attentional sex differences in breadth of intake (pointed out in Chapter 1 of The g Factor).}

{Some journalists found it odd that, despite Lynn & Irwing's result, female students today excel males at all levels of educational achievement except Ph.D. level -- neglecting that today's "educational achievement" in Britain is largely a matter of rote learning of spoon-fed material together with hyperconscientious application to time-wasting 'projects' undertaken with the help of parents.}

{The Guardian (Sam Jones, 26 viii, p.15) provided a handy summary of Richard Lynn's views over the years on race, sex and class -- including his brave 1996 acknowledgment (in response to my own trials in Edinburgh) that he could be called a 'scientific racist.' (Like William McDougall, Hans Eysenck and myself, Richard is essentially a democratic elitist.) In America, Exhibit.net (25 viii) offered a similarly wide attack on Lynn's eugenic views. In South Africa, Mahaba.net (26 viii) drew attention to Lynn's being supported by the 'Nazi-connected' Pioneer Fund. In netspace, Blogcritics.org (26 viii) took the trouble to list 15 objections to IQ tests, agreeing with supporters of Flynnery (though not with James Flynn himself) that 'our ancestors were like dogs.' The American Outside the Beltway (26 viii) settled sensibly enough for doubting any substantial average sex difference in the g factor but agreeing that men have a wider standard deviation and thus produce far more geniuses.}

{Around the same time, top BBC newsman Michael Buerk, 59, and himself 'a man's man,' 'sparked controversy' by complaining that female values were becoming dominant in society (Guardian, 19 viii; Melbourne Herald Sun, 29 viii). -- This was not a problem in Swaziland where portly King Mswati, 37, chose a thirteenth wife from among 50,000 topless virgins paraded in a stadium for his delectation in a traditional annual ceremony called the Reed Dance. In the previous year the king had ended up choosing a 16-year-old, Nothando Dube, a Miss Teen Swaziland finalist; and in 2005 he selected a 17-year-old, Colile Magagula (also known as Titi) who would become a queen after an AIDS test (for 43% of Swazis had AIDS) and satisfactory bedtime performance with the king. For some reason, Western media did not obtain pictures of this ceremony -- perhaps they thought it would be racist to publish such material?}



TOP TORY SHY OF RACE

A leading contender for the Conservative leadership, youthful David Cameron, who had promisingly compared mad Muslims to Nazis, suggested that speaking English should be the main requirement of British citizenship (Daily Torygraph, 25 viii). Cameron thus chose the French model that has sadly allowed millions of French-speaking Muslims to inundate France with a tsunami of criminality, stupidity (partly due to incestuous Muslim practices), grave-smashing and general anti-Semitism. {A mistake by 'centre right' Michael Gove-backed Cameron! The Islamofascists who killed 52 Londoners in July were home-grown English speakers. The requirement of immigrants who come for family reasons should be that they are first-degree relatives or spouses of British citizens at least one of whose parents had UK citizenship. A similar stipulation should be made that foreigners coming for employment should have a fully British employer. The only foreigners otherwise allowed residence and eventual citizenship should be those bringing in £10,000 p.a. and never depending on welfare.}



SUPPORT FOR RICHARD LYNN

The Times (26 viii, leader page) carried a brief note of support for Emeritus Professor Richard Lynn. The writer, Barry Heath, from Nova Scotia, said he thought it became known long ago that brain size, IQ, being male and being a genius were linked -- showing perhaps that there were some parts of the world which PeeCee had still to reach... And Times Higher (26 viii) made Lynn & Irwing their front page headline story and gave them a leading article -- albeit saying the argument about a sex difference in g would still be raging a hundred years from now. The story also got a brief mention in Frankfurter Allgemeine (27 viii) -- and without even saying Lynn was 'controversial' or 'notorious' (the usual codewords to alert peecee types to mortal danger). And Sunday Telegraph columnist Melissa Kite accepted the L & I claims while sneering that men were "emotionally illiterate and socially inept."

In the U.S.A., studied indifference was maintained by the media about the story-of-the-day from Britain. Australia's Daily Telegraph dared to cover the story, but only on the condition of highlighting how women do better than men once IQs are matched, and concluding "it's not what you've got, it's how you use it" -- the same approach as appealed to the New Zealand Herald (26 viii) and Scotland on Sunday (28 viii).


But, though the media tried to ignore or re-spin the news, it had not been women's week. It turned out that the commander of the London armed police squad which gunned down an innocent Brazilian (firing an amazing eleven shots into his head over 30 seconds and later apparently attempting to cover up the man's complete innocence by lying that he wore a padded jacket and had leapt over an Underground barricade) was a woman (going by the unlikely name of Cressida Dick); and, in Texas, a Black woman of 40 {IQ similar?} approached execution for murdering her husband and two children in 1987 so as to claim £55,000 from the insurance policies on them which she had taken out just a little time before her crime. Still, nothing daunted, Gail Walker of Belfast wrote to the Belfast Telegraph (27 viii) of the alleged male intellectual superiority: "All that throbbing brainpower and they still can't hit the toilet bowl."

At the apex of Britain's weekend intellectual life, Funday Times (28 viii) columnist Melanie McDonagh had no great complaint about Lynn & Irwing except to whine that female mediocrity and non-extremism should surely be applauded and that IQ did not necessarily bring happiness (failing to note that 'happiness' is principally a product of the 50%-genetic trait of (non-)neuroticism and that, anyhow, most girls prefer love and/or diamonds). In India, the Telegraph (28 viii) also wisely settled for focussing on the well-established phenomenon of female
mediocrity, though throwing in a new finding that females use their frontal lobes more than men {perhaps because men automatize spatial ability in the brain's areas more concerned with direct perception}.

{And what was I doing all this time? Why, translating and proofreading and seeing the fine anti-PeeCee play 'Oleanna' about the hollowing out of universities by feminism-crazed students and cowardly staff and drinking Australian Chardonnay to accompany a Chinese carry-out with the sweetest, merriest and brainiest three East Asian girls one could hope to meet... .}



RACE REALIST FESSES UP

After a decade of largely keeping quiet about race differences, hoping the public might focus on the central issue of IQ differences, Charles Murray, co-author of The Bell Curve, gave up and publicly asserted his race realism, i.e. that empirically studied B-W differences are deep-seated and surely genetic (American Renaissance, viii 05).

Like myself after 1981 (when the South African Agriculture, Water and Forestries Board offered me superb opportunities to test out Inspection Time on its many Black applicants), Murray had hoped that distancing himself from the race issue would help him get his central views across; but by 2005 (like me in 1996) he found he had had precisely no influence on the many politicians, paparazzi and bureaucrats dancing their dance quite obsessed with the need to be 'anti-racist' -- as I explained in American Renaissance (iii 05).

Murray concluded his article (scheduled in full for Commentary in September): "Let us stop being afraid of data that tell us a story we do not want to hear, stop the name-calling, stop the denial, and start facing reality". (But he still wouldn't cite Galton, Burt or Eysenck in his plea for realism about individual and group differences in psychology; nor call himself a 'race realist,' believing that this term overplays the influence of race in his thinking. In some contrast, Richard Lynn at last accepted my own proposition of April, 1996 that, in believing there are genetic differences between races, he and I actually both 'definitely scientific racists' (Deccan Herald, 28 viii, throwing in that Richard rated Black IQ in subSaharan Africa as around 70). -- For modern use of the term 'scientific racist', see Brand 1998/2002.)

ITALY'S NO.2 SPURNS ANTI-RACISM

The speaker of Italy's Senate explained to assembled youth groups that Italians risked becoming members of a "mixed race" because of coloured immigration (American Renaissance, viii). -- He was promptly condemned by the Roman Catholic hierarchy.



MORE RE RICHARD LYNN

Germany's Yahoo News! (27 viii) repeated the Lynn & Irwing findings without important criticism but felt obliged to advertise Lynn's racist and eugenic connections. Berlin's Morning Post [Berliner Morgenpost] was more critical (e.g. of the definition of intelligence {they should see Chapter 1 of The g Factor}) and threw in a revealing picture of niftily nippled superstar Sharon Stone (IQ 150) to help make its own points.

The internet's Wikinews (27 viii) linked L & I to the Harvard debate triggered by President Larry Summers and queried whether there was any adequate definition of intelligence... Australia's Sunshine Coast Daily (27 viii) reported the findings without comment -- but elicited doubts from a husband-wife team of restauranteurs.

Human biodiversity leader Steve Sailer pointed out that Charles Murray had defended the 'mediocrity of women' thesis in his wide-ranging Commentary essay urging realism (though not calling himself a race realist) (VDare, 28 viii). In London, the Independent's Rowan Pelling (female) accepted the 'inferiority of women' thesis, but insultingly claimed the higher average scores of adult males were due to autism and obsessionality that allowed them to pursue thinking that "tends to be linear and logical, if not downright monomaniacal" (28 viii). New Zealand TV (29 viii) accepted the Lynn & Irwing story but insisted that IQ tests did not measure anything important -- and certainly not 'social skills' {invented by social psychologist Michael Argyle in the 1960s but remaining unmeasurable ever since except in so far as they correlate at .40 with the g factor (Brand, 'The importance of general intelligence,' 1987, in Arthur Jensen: Consensus and Controversy)}.

Two letters to the Grauniad (29 viii) were unsurprisingly more negative -- one doubting the definition of intelligence and one saying a grand 10% of new fellows of the Royal Society over the previous five years had been wymmin... Equally predictable criticism of Richard's 'Pioneer' funding and eugenicism was provided at Women's BioEthics Blogspot (28 viii). Alabama's JuiceeNewsDaily (30 viii) gave one of the best and most balanced summaries, mentioning particularly the male advantage at tests involving visualization and mental rotation.



TIMES ONLINE SUPPORT FOR RICHARD LYNN

Some 50% of Times correspondents re 'sex and IQ' were positive (30 viii, http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,564-1749947_1,00.html), and others were often merely general doubts about the usefulness of IQ tests. I wrote to the paper as follows.

That males are over-represented at high levels of IQ is well established in psychology, having been first observed in Lewis Terman's classic study of gifted children in 1925. The finding is well in line with the recent estimate by social scientist Charles Murray that 98% of highly accomplished people (judged by length of encyclopaedia entries) are men. I invite those who doubt the measurement and importance of general intelligence to consult my book 'The g Factor' (available free on the internet) and Richard Lynn's other recent co-authored work, 'IQ and the Wealth of Nations' (summarized in the Times, 10 November, 2003).

Germany's Die Welt was also passably supportive (31 viii), particularly saying that environmentalistic behaviourism was 'in retreat' ["auf dem Rueckzug"].



RACE REALISM, MEDIA MULTICULCHALUNACY FROM NEW ORLEANS

As the Black folk of New Orleans demonstrated their vast capacities for threatening, thieving, looting, raping (even 4-year-old girls) and murdering in the aftermath of the 'Katrina' hurricane, the West's mainstream media declined even to mention the word 'Black', let alone IQ, so obsessed were they to prop up PeeCee in the face of its manifest falsity and to blame the Big Sleazy's fate on President George Dubya Bush. Covering a situation in which there were some 50 murders over two days in the sheltering Superdome alone, under the eyes of National Guards, the News of the World (4 ix) perhaps got nearest -- yet not colourfully near -- to mentioning the truth when it reported one Marisa, from Guildford, Surrey, as saying: "White tourists were getting picked on by the locals". But Britain's 'right-wing' Sunday Telegraph would not talk about the Blacks even though admitting that "the realisation that New Orleans had become a cauldron of criminality and atavistic excess has sent a shiver of revulsion throughout much of the country" and pointing out that the USA, in its (supposed) neglect of Black needs, was "more vulnerable every day to the fury of the coming storm" [presumably of Black vs White civil war]. Again, most papers declined to mention that the city (with a Black elected) Mayor had ordered a "mandatory evacuation"; instead, the journalists repeated the endless groans of Blacks and lefties essentially indicting President Bush. Property prices tumbled in surrounding towns as Black low life (who forced others out of rescue coaches) moved into them.

{Fortunately Steve Sailer was quickly on hand (VDare, 4 ix) to remedy the above deficiencies of media coverage, to estimate the average IQ of New Orleans' Blacks at around only 80, and to attribute the failure to plan for the entirely predictable (and actually predicted) disaster to PeeCee's insistence that no-one suggest there are any special problems associated with negritude.}

FILM TO KILL PEECEE

Backed by an American multi-millionaire (Stuart Browning), a fresh-faced 32-year-old computer whizz from New York turned out to be scheduled to produce by the end of the year a serious send-up of peecee tyranny on U.S. campuses (Daily Telegraph, 13 viii). Director Evan Coyne Maloney believed his film would horrify many rich and elderly alumni and lead to a drying up of funding for American luniversities. Maloney had seen the light when American media of 2003 ran broadcasts implying that protest against the Iraq war was normal: Maloney promptly took a camera along to demonstrations and had no difficulty finding lefties content to call President Bush a ‘Hitler without the moustache.’ Subsequently he found after dishing out dolls of Hillary Clinton and Michael Moore to crowds that, when he pretended to have run out and have only Osama bin Laden dolls remaining, the lefties “one after the other accepted the proferred action figures of the mastermind of 9/11.” Details of Maloney’s techniques and his liaison with the liberal-right Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) can be found at FIRE, 6 xii 2004. An American Christian website recorded (2005):

"Maloney is one of the newest wave of new-wave filmmakers, a former computer geek who uses the new tiny technology to put real films together right inside his cramped Manhattan apartment, and then promotes them on his own blog and websites. He describes himself as a libertarian-conservative with neo-conservative overtones, radicalized by seeing 9-11 up close and personal. "Being a New Yorker and watching the towers fall from the rooftop of my office building,” stated Maloney, “really has a way of grabbing you by the collar, slapping you in the face and waking you up about what kind of threats exist in the world." After 9-11, he became fascinated with far left protestors who appear to side with Islamic and Palestinian radicals against their own country. He began documenting how their love affair with the Palestinian cause has led them to a virulent hatred of Israel, a hatred he says is starting to spill over into a hatred of the Jews".


OZ ANTI-RACIST ACADEMICS STRONGER IN QUANTITY THAN QUALITY

Arguments demanding that academic free speech be “responsible”, sensitive and unfailingly non-racist were so feeble that the letter containing them needed scores of signatures from social scientists and hangers-on (including 46 ‘colleagues’ of Drew Fraser at Macquarie LUniversity) to give it sufficient weight for publication in the Australian (17 viii). In particular, the authors’ failure to define ‘racism’ meant that their proposals, if accepted, would banish even the most sober and scientific discussion of racial differences – since anti-racists standardly call a wide range of race scholars “(scientific) racists”(FIND racist).


HOLLYWOOD NON-PEECEE STARS IDENTIFIED

As the right and national liberals mobilized to take back the U.S. media from the left, the Hollywood Congress of Republicans listed some of its favourite stars (2005): Arnie Schwarzenegger, top beauty and actress Bo Derek, Bruce Willis, Charlton Heston, Chubby Checker, Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicklaus, voluptuous Jane Russell (of ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’), top model Kathy Ireland, leggy nice-but-naughty Lara Flynn Boyle (‘Twin Peaks’), Matt Drudge, rockstar Meat Loaf, cute (half-Asian?) but incisive columnist Michelle Malkin, Oliver North, petite actress and author Patricia Heaton, Rush Limbaugh, Sylvester Stallone, and hot young busty blonde bombshell, Sorbonne-trained artist and supermodel Yvette Rachelle.


SEX DIFFERENCES IN IQ RANGE RE-ASSERTED

Differential psychologist Richard Lynn (ex-U. Ulster) and organizational psychologist Paul Irwing (ex-U. Ulster, then Manchester Business School) managed to score big-time in the media by reporting, (apparently from a worldwide literature review of cognitive tests in 57 studies [sampling unknown] and perhaps new material involving some 24,000 adult testees since 1960), that males were substantially over-represented at higher levels of IQ (some five-fold at over IQ 145) (Times, 25 viii; Sun, 25 viii; Herald, 25 viii; Daily Mail, 25 viii, p.29; BBC 25 viii (where Lynn & Irwing promptly attracted a score of responses, all critical); Glasgow Evening Times, 25 viii); The Australian (26 viii – taking the trouble to mention Lynn’s involvement in the (2002) discovery of a clear correlation between national prosperity and national IQ).

The finding, to be published in the British Journal of Psychology (the flagship journal of the British Psychological Society), due out 4 xi, was in line with Charles Murray’s (2003) estimate that only 2% of the world’s top 4,000 ‘achievers’ (till 1950) had been women. {Males also scored on average 5 IQ points higher than women but this may have reflected well-known higher male spatial abilities – since spatial tests are often used (instead of verbal or numerical tests) to achieve ‘culture-fair’ assessment of intelligence.} {Good news for women was that, matching for IQ, women actually achieved more than men -- perhaps because of conscientiousness or better memory due to lower alcohol intake.}

{The Education Guardian (25 viii} did its best to hold the line for sex equality by having Cambridge University professor Simon Boring-Cohen reject Professor Lynn’s attempt to rope him in as to a 5-IQ-point average male superiority , saying he still believed “overall intelligence is not better in one sex than in the other” – Boring-Cohen had become well-known for acknowledging attentional sex differences in breadth of intake (pointed out in Chapter 1 of The g Factor).} {Some journalists found it odd that, despite Lynn & Irwing’s result, female students today excel males at all levels of educational achievement except Ph.D. level – neglecting that today’s “educational achievement” in Britain is largely a matter of rote learning of spoon-fed material together with hyperconscientious application to time-wasting ‘projects’ undertaken with the help of parents.}

{The Guardian (Sam Jones, 26 viii) provided a handy summary of Richard Lynn’s views over the years on race, sex and class – including his brave 1996 acknowledgment (in response to my own trials in Edinburgh) that he could be called a ‘scientific racist.’ (Like William McDougall, Hans Eysenck and myself, Richard is essentially a democratic elitist.) In America, Exhibit.net (25 viii) offered a similarly wide attack on Lynn’s eugenic views. The American Outside the Beltway (26 viii) settled sensibly enough for doubting any substantial average sex difference in the g factor but agreeing that men have a wider standard deviation and thus produce more geniuses.}

OBSERVER/GUARDIAN ADMITS THE g FACTOR

In an amazing lapse from peecee principles, Health Editor Jo Revill casually announced to lefties the existence of "general intelligence," of links to maths and reading abilities, and of ""general" genes" governing "achievement at school" (Observer 7 viii or BNN[John Ray] 10 viii).

Not to be outdone, the mighty Chicago Sun-Times told its readers that higher-IQ women are less likely to marry (35% less for every 16 IQ points) whereas the opposite is true for men (40% more likely to marry for each 16 IQ points) and that “IQ is fixed” (whereas ‘Emotional Intelligence’ can be changed….) (8 viii).

Medindia.com claimed that research at London’s Maudsley Hospital had found “continual e-mailing and text-messaging” to be associated with an average IQ of only 90 (6 viii).

A Virginia jury took IQ seriously, finding that a convicted murderer whose IQ had risen from 59 to 76 should prepare himself for Death Row (Sunday Times, 7 viii; Sunday Mirror, 7 viii). Likewise a Georgia jury sent a murderer and rapist for execution when it turned out his low IQ score had been the result of his faking dumb on the advice of his lawyer (Tallahassee Democrat, 12 viii).

Readers of Parade magazine (widely distributed in the USA) guesstimated (viii) that the world’s 12 most intelligent people were: 1 Albert Einstein 2 Bill Gates 3 Marie Curie 4 Stephen Hawking 5 Condoleezza Rice 6 Bill Clinton 7 Sandra Day O'Connor 8 Oprah Winfrey 9 Warren Buffett 10 Jane Goodall 11 Steven Spielberg 12 Dalai Lama (n.b.: 57% of respondents were women).

The Government of Thailand (where IQ averages 91) became sufficiently worried about low IQ as to embark on mapping the whole country to see whether IQs of under 80 were importantly linked to areas of iodine deficiency (The Nation, 13 viii).

British Mensa (membership 25,000) kept going, announcing a search for high-IQ folk in the Chester area (Chester Evening Leader, 13 viii).

And the British Journal of Psychiatry published evidence from 7,000 Danish men that a high IQ in childhood predicted a lower rate of psychiatric disturbance in adulthood – a result which persisted when social class and birth weight were controlled for. {Such a protective effect of IQ is discussed in The g Factor, Chapter 4, which points out that schizophrenia is less severe and disruptive when IQ is higher.}

The Daily Telegraph, too, dared to give IQ a mention, venturing that Cherie Blair, if she were to become an M.P. would “raise the average IQ of the Commons significantly” (12 viii). And IQ even figured centrally in the plot of a new film, Pretty Persuasion, in which super-high-IQ and pretty teenagerettes plotted revenge on an authoritarian schoolmaster (Film Threat, 5 viii).

RACE-REALIST PROFESSOR BACKED BY STUDENTS, UNION PRESIDENT AND GOVERNMENT MINISTER

As Macquarie LUniversity's public law expert Drew Fraser (picture) prepared for a showdown with his multiculti academic bosses, he received strong support from his students - according to The Australian (1 viii). As well as not wanting their course disrupted, students (including one girl from Vietnam) said Professor Fraser was a good teacher, not a racist in any usual sense of that term, and was anyhow surely entitled to free speech.

Reeling under this blow, the LUniversity may have taken consolation from being given the backing of the New South Wales supremo of the National Tertiary Education Union; but it still had no support from the union's Macquarie branch president, Judy Goyen, who called for Professor Fraser to be able to publicize his views, and a new blow landed on it as youthful Federal Government Education Minister Dr Brendan Nelson, a Canberra Liberal, said it was wrong to ban the professor from teaching (Sydney Morning Herald, 1 viii).

Professor Fraser's trials with his LUniversity had begun when he wrote using his university address to a suburban newspaper saying that Australia was at risk of becoming `a Third World colony' thanks to its politicians encouraging non-Anglo-Celtic immigration. {Professor Fraser turned up on campus as promised to meet his 60 students and to encourage them to demand the continuation of his lecture course - though the lecture hall they normally used had been locked against them and secured by guards sent by peroxide-blonde and wrinkled Vice-Chancellor `Lady Di' Yerbury. Fraser's student, Andrew Tennant, said:

"We were just basically trying to hand out some pamphlets saying that free speech is an important issue at Macquarie University and that any lecturer, no matter how far out or extravagant his view should be, he should be allowed to speak and that a university historically is a place for a marketplace of ideas and that they should be allowed to speak and the university should really not get involved in that kind of debate?"

As this happened, DF's case - already mentioned in American Renaissance (29 vii) -- was achieving further publicity in America from VDare (http://vdare.com/sailer/050731_fraser.htm1 viii) - in an article by Steve Sailer which (while omitting any mention of Arthur Jensen, Richard Lynn or Phil Rushton) included a brave discussion of Africa's "endemic cretinism." But the press in the Workers' Paradise was not so sympathetic: Professor Fraser was headlined not as being locked out but as "skipping his lectures" by the Australian, the Melbourne Herald Sun, the Daily Telegraph (Australia), the Brisbane Courier Mail, the Advertiser Adelaide and News.com.au.}


UNION AND STUDENTS BACK FREE SPEECH FOR RACE-REALIST

In a surprise move, Australia's 26,000-strong Melbourne-based National Tertiary Education Union announced its belief that academics should be able to speak freely in public and its determination to ensure that Professor Andrew Fraser should be treated fairly according to the terms of his contract and standard university procedures (2 viii) - the implication being that the union thought Macquarie's teaching ban an over-reaction to an essentially minor incident (in which Prof. Fraser had sent his race-realist views to a suburban newspaper from his university address). The union added: "Universities have a responsibility to promote critical discussion and debate." Meanwhile, Macquarie's exiled public law lecturer was enjoying a groundswell of support from former students and from 2005 students. Colourful banners declaring "Support Free Speech! Let Drew Teach!" appeared around the north-western Sydney campus (Daily Telegraph [Oz], 3 viii). Macquarie, which calls itself `Australia's Innovative University,' is a strongly postgraduate university, with 34% of its 30,000 students being enrolled for second degrees. {The similarity of Professor Fraser's battle with my own in Edinburgh of 1996/7 was noted at the Australian race-realist websites, `Sydney Bluegum', `G-Gnome Rides Out' and `Majority Rights'.}


TOP POLITICOS EDGE AWAY FROM MULTICULTURALISM

In the aftermath of the London Tube bombings (killing 56), Tory leadership aspirant David Davis told the Telegraph (3 viii) that multiculturalism was finished, that Britain needed to reclaim its borders and have a Department of Homland Security, that Britain should stop dishing out `human rights' to all and sundry, that foreign men with prison records in Britain should not qualify for British citizenship and that he favoured allowing preaching and teaching in mosques and Muslim faith schools only under licence, allowing the police to use racial profiling when stopping and searching suspects, and allowing phone tap evidence in court in terror hearings. {Davis covered his backside by pointing out that Campaign for Racial Equality boss Trevor Phillips had announced `multiculturalism was dead' sixteen months ago (Times, 3 iv 2004; Diary, iv 2004); his advocacy of racial profiling was backed by a top ethnic man at the Met; his fellow Shadow Cabinet member, Gerald Howarth, called for Muslims who justify terror bombings to leave Britain; senior Tory Michael Portillo had written for the Times that the era of multiculturalism was over (17 vii), to be replaced with magnanimous monoculturalism; and Davis would have been pleased to find Foreign Secretary Jack Straw agreeing with him about Islam needing to be provided only under license. However, at the same time the UK Home Office (under one Hazel Blears while Messrs Clarke, Blair and Straw were on holiday) said the police should act only on the basis of intelligence and declined to specify it would be `intelligent' to concentrate bomb searches on Afro-Arab males rather than on White grannies; and Mrs Cherie Blair told the Guardian that judges should dish out more human rights a.s.a.p.} {After ten years of European and American effort to create multicultural societies in Bosnia and Kosovo, the New York Review of Books (Tim Judah, viii) noted that it would take "just a spark" to return these places to civil war.}



BRITAIN CAN'T STOP PASSPORT SMUGGLER

The lunatic state of Britain's preparedness to deal with terror and illegal immigration was revealed when British officials announced they were unable to detain a `British citizen' [newly minted] found with 452 blank European passports in his luggage (Sydney Morning Herald, 5 viii).

Postmodern relativism, stemming from a failure to respect human intelligence as a reality-detector, may at last be on the wane in the universities it made its own - those of America's Demmocrat-dominated state sector (Wall Street Journal, 4 viii). {The death of `Theory' [aka Critical Theory = all capitalistic and scientific ideas have detectable problems, therefore Lenin was right] was announced last year in Britain by a leading Marxite previous advocate, Prof. Terry Eagleton (see Diary, May 2004).}


MUSLIM MODERATION? - `DON'T BELIEVE IT!' SAYS "Guardian"

Continuing its balancing act to try to hold together the New and Livingstonian sides of the Labour Party, the Grauniad (4 viii) published a think-piece from a Muslim, one Hanif Kureishi. Could Rev. Blair achieve his wish to deal with the merry moderate Muslim majority of his imagination? `No way, Jose!' said Hanif. He had been to plenty of `moderate' mosques where abuse of the West, the Jews and, above all, homosexuals was very marked - and when he tried to record it he was dumped out on the stree by burly Islamic scholars. More generally, wrote Hanif, Islam opposes the use of reason, argument or evidence except in the service of faith. Needless to say, Hanif found British Mohammedanism "claustrophobic" and "stultifying" - in short, quite unsuitable for Guardian readers.


BLECKS SEEK REVENGE ON RACE-REALIST

Seething at Blacks being called low-IQ, Australia's `African Communities Council' announced it would seek redress against Macquarie LUniversity's Professor Andrew Fraser from the Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission. At a packed meeting at Macquarie, Professor Fraser told a howling mob they would rue the day. {An article in the Sydney Morning Herald (6 viii) noted that, back in 1977, Professor Hans Eysenck had been shielded by guards at Macquarie so that he could speak - which he had been unable to do at Sydney University. But a SMH columnist suggested Professor Fraser was either "pig ignorant" or "plain barking mad."}


TOP LEFT COLUMNIST DENOUNCES MODERN ISLAM

Observer readers all over Britain could be heard choking over their muesli as long-standing lefty columnist Nick Cohen got off the fence and condemned today's Islam as "homophobic, mysogynist, racist, imperialist, tyrannical, homicidal." - Yes, Islam has some good features..but it's nice to know that the White traitors who invented PeeCee are no longer able to agree what these are. On the other hand, as lefties bickered over whether mad mullahs should be indicted as traitors, one of them, `the Tottenham ayatollah' managed to slip away to Lebanon. {Prime Minister Winston Churchill had set a precedent for locking up sworn enemies in times of war when, in 1940, he detained 1,000 leading Mosleyites - though not least for their own safety.}

After twenty academics at Macquarie LUniversity had written to their Vice-Chancellor complaining of the treatment meted out to Professor Andrew Fraser when he wrote to a newspaper saying Black people had on average a low IQ and high testosterone, one of them, law lecturer Lawrence McNamara, spoke out to defend Fraser at a 300-strong meeting of Macquarie staff (The Australian, 10 viii).


STREAMING REALISM VINDICATED

A Glasgow school announced that its results were 19% better after four years of streaming pupils according to ability. St Paul's High School, Pollok, one of Glasgow's 29 state-run secondary schools, had adopted streaming in English and Maths in 1999, then extended the principle to all classes in 2001. By 2005 they had their result: a 25% boost in the exam results of better students, a 19% boost on average, and a 4% boost for duller kids (all of which boosts compared with a 1.5% `inflation' driven rise for Scotland as a whole (Daily Mail [print version], 9 viii). The Times weighed in to the battle, saying LSE research showed comprehensive schools produced less social mobility, that Northern Irish people were well content with their `divided' grammar vs comprehensive system, and that 80% of 11 year olds finally stuck to their own predictions of whether they would or would not stay on at school for higher education - so why couldn't the authorities use such statements of intent to route children either into academic or business-related studies?

BRITAIN BUGGERS ON

As Islamist bombs killed 56 in London, triggering an orgy of political correctness by the police, British politicians set an example to the nation by going on holiday. – As well they might, for Labour (see Guardian contributors, e.g. Jonathan Freedland vs others) was split down the middle over whether to back the Jews or the Muslims and whether to grant the whole world ‘human rights’ to stay in Britain on welfare while would-be immigrants’ cases are considered and appealed for years on end without their in any event being removed. (Mr and Mrs Blair were particularly at loggerheads, the former spiritedly saying he wouldn’t give Muslims an inch, the latter saying British judges should take over from politicians and issue even more rights on the basis of their powers from Brussels – see Guardian, 28 vii, where she won the blessing of the editor).

The Tories, too, largely holidayed, with none of their 197 candidates for their leadership feeling able to say anything much about anything; though in the Spectator the Tories’ own rift was clear to see, with brave-and-boyish Boris Johnson saying that Islamofascism could be dealt with by British bobbies, but hard-man Mark Steyn saying the West needed a full scale wake-up war on terror since the Islamists had in recent years taken over Pakistan, Iran, Chechnya, Bosnia and Sudan and were busily establishing themselves in Kashmir, Thailand (where 10% of people have in recent years moved home to get away from Muslims) and Nigeria (now 50% under Sharia law).

Meanwhile what remained in the UK of the Government took five days to establish whether a Brazilian killed with seven bullets to the head in London by plain clothes police had or had not been in the country legally – eventually it turned out the Home Office stamp in his passport giving ‘right of indefinite stay’ was a forgery; and the Government Minister for Northern Ireland, ex-anti-apartheid activist Peter Hain, completed the U.K.’s 50-year struggle against the IRA with a complete and final sell-out, releasing top Eirish psychopaths and beginning to withdraw the Army from the now fully divided province, allowed to develop its own apartheid system of Caff and Prod regions – presumably a harbinger of what Britoid politicians will provide on the mainland in response to Islamist terror.

For British intellectuals, Prof. John Gray of the LSE, was wheeled into the New York Review of Books (11 viii) to say that nationalism may or may not be the coming response to globalization and Pax Americana – thereby agreeing with what I wrote in American Renaissance in March, but failing to say which versions of nationalism might catch on or how the West’s current peecee religiosity might be replaced.

Reeling under this blow, the LUniversity may have taken consolation from being given the backing of the New South Wales supremo of the National Tertiary Education Union; but it still had no support from the union’s Macquarie branch president, Judy Goyen, who called for the Professor Fraser to be able to publicize his views. Professor Fraser’s trials with his LUniversity had begun when he wrote to a suburban newspaper saying that Australia was at risk of becoming ‘a Third World colony.’

{Professor Fraser turned up on campus as promised to meet his students and to encourage them to demand the continuation of his lecture course – though the lecture hall they normally used was apparently blocked off by guards despatched by peroxide-blonde and wrinkled Vice-Chancellor ‘Lady Di’ Yerbury.
